God truly has a sense of humor. Over the last few days, I've been praying to be blessed so that I may bless others, "let my blessings overflow."
This morning, the coffee pot overflowed. As I was cleaning that up, I managed to overflow my coffee cup as well. Most mornings this would have frustrated me, and set my day up for a bad day. Then I remembered what I had been praying. Blessings were overflowing all right. As I smiled at God's sense of humor, I opened the microwave to discover my egg dish managed to overflow onto the turn plate. Oh my...now I am shaking my head. After all of this, I have no choice but to smile.

What a great reason to brush this blog off, and get it moving again! Our church is going through a study called "Animate Practices." One of the first activities was to list how you've seen, heard or experienced God.
My list:
Today I saw God :
-in the colors of the leaves.
-in the fresh snow on Mt. Hood, making it look bigger than before
-in the weak smile of a thankful mom, as I helped distract her toddlers, so she could focus on what was important at the moment.
Feel free to share your "sightings!"

Sadly, I have forgotten to note my God sightings. It has been over a year since I posted any!
Recently, I have seen or heard God...
-in the giggle of a 9 month old.
-the relief of hearing a friend, visiting VA, was not harmed by any storm/tornado.
-a friend's relief to hear her son is back from deployment, and will be relocating from the east coast to WA.
-tears of relief as a burden is lifted from someone's shoulders.
-(not to forget...)He is Risen!

week ending March 7, 2010
Here is where I have seen or heard God this week. Please feel free to leave your own God Sightings either via Facebook or by adding to the comments on my blog!
Blessings!
-An elder reflecting on 35 years of marriage, even though he has passed on.
-A friend sacrificing their own joy so as not to "mess up" the life of their child.
-The joy of seeing someone reach for, and achieve their goal(s).
-Happy Dances!
-Regrowth and rebirth of Spring! I know I've been saying this for a couple of weeks now, but it still amazes me how God created all things to become new again. This time of year just shows it more than others.

-Although not a positive event, the earthquakes in Japan and Chile'
-Honking of geese, as they fly their migration pattern overhead.

Lent
For Lent, I am choosing to dust off this blog. Instead of "giving up" something for Lent, I am going back to things that have been forgotten about. After the sermon and lessons on spending time in the wilderness, it is time to start listing where I've seen God again.
God Sightings
-Daffodils! The first flower to bloom in the Spring is blooming!!
-The beauty of being able to see not only Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helen, but also Mt. Adams!
-The sparkle in a child's eye when they get to do something they enjoy.
-A group of women having lunch together, and enjoying each others' company.
-A warm embrace from a loved one.

May 7
Since I have missed a couple of weeks, I have some catch up to do:
God has been seen/felt/heard
-(as bizarre as it may sound) my mechanic telling me he wouldn't trust my car in the mountains.
-The car accident, last Weds. (I was hit from behind), no one was seriously injured. Note to God: ok I get the message, this car is not to leave the state of Nebraska!
-Mentors who can give my life's challenges a whole different perspective.
-a potential buyer for my car, so I don't have to scrap it.
-2009 Confirmation class.
-a friend being moved by a testimony to help a woman's mission organization.

I've been a bit lax in my God sightings.
-Kendra standing up for a friend, as a sponsor, for his baptism.
-Jaydee and Kendra participating in a candle lighting ceremony, honoring their 10th anniversary of their baptisms. (I can't wait to see the pictures.)
-Janell and Randy opening their home and watching the girls for a few days.
-God holding me up on Bubba (no there are not any pictures of this!)
-God answering prayers during a rough landing.
-A little girl being "grown up" pulling her own carry-on bag and handing her ticket to the agent. She was just so cute, and brought a smile to everyone around her.
-Strangers sharing stories about ski trips, and where the best snow is this time of year. (NO, I was not part of this conversation! lol)

-Jaydee questioning Bible passages.
-A loving friend, who doesn't realize how much she has impacted my life.
-Two friends encouraging a third to move on with her life after a divorce.

Week of Feb. 15
-co-worker praying, after hours of frustration, to find an expensive tool which was mia. Seconds later it was found!
- open discussion amongst teens about "what love is..."
-discovering Jesus' human-ness, and really pondering the idea of Jesus with a good sense of humor. As one person put it, "he was basically camping with a bunch of teen to early-twenty year olds for 3 years. He had to have had a sense of humor!"

Since I wasn't home last week, I'm doubling up this week.

Jan. 25
-Snowflakes glittering in the sun. (too bad they pile up!)

Week of January 11
-High school kids working together "Kids Against Hunger," assembling packets of food for over 9000 people.
-The openness and trust heard and felt in a group of teenagers discussing a touchy topic.
-Small talk, with a stranger, leading him back to church, if anything but to join a group studying finances...planted the seeds, at least.

New Year...New Sightings!
Usually I keep the sightings (I post) along the personal lines, a couple of these were in the news, and are, in my opinion, worthy of noting.
-The Oregon family who escaped not only a mudslide, but also the resulting fire. As reported in The Oregonian "the family Bible was saved," as well.
-The little 4-year old boy, who was found at a truck stop in Ohio. God's angels had to have been protecting him! (Sadly, his mother was found slain, in their home.)
-Reconnecting with friends after holiday breaks.
